My House

I took these pics sometime in 2003 between tenants. Back then, we could have vegitation up and around the house, it was cool. Not any more. The roof has been redone with shingles since then, and a lot of brush has been cleared away, and there's been a handful of upgrades of other kinds.

This is how long ago it was. Gas prices in Marin were higher than anywhere else I could find in the bay area, and this was the highest I could find at the time. My original caption for this picture was

Here's the gas prices in Marin county while I was up there. Just a block away, I saw prices that were 11c cheaper, so it's not quite that bad all over.

This is my house - this is all you see from the street. The car pad has room for 2 cars, once I got three in there, but I had to climb out of the third car through the back hatch.

On the left is a shed I used to have my bicycle in.

On the right side is a gate, with the stairs leading down. That's 2 pictures from now.

Behind the car is a wooden railing, and just over the edge is my house.

Right under that skylite is the kitchen.

This is a cloudy day, or a foggy day, but see below, the fog cleared up. When there's no fog, you can see the same view as from the living room.

This is at the front of my car, looking over the railing, at my house - the front porch and the walkway in front. And the roof on top. It's a "Tar and Gravel" roof, and it's going to be replaced this year, hopefully before the end of the year.

Back on the street lev el, this is the gate to the stairs - this is the only way to get to the house. All of everybody's furniture is moved up and down these stairs and through the gate here. You can see my car on the far left.

Now we go through the gate, this is looking down the stairs.

Same Place! This is looking around. Here you can see the underside of the carpad - there's lots of ivy planted there. Then you see the house. Then lots of trees and vegetation. The picture didn't turn out all that good because the camera was fooled by the dark under the carpad.

OK, we got to the bottom of the stairs, and this is the walkway to the front of the house.

The whole house is on the side of a hill - about 45 degree slope! One time I was going camping, and I wanted to try out my tent to see if it was OK, and I had to drive around to find a flat place to pitch it. There was nothing in my neighborhood.

The path goes past the front door (in Blue), all the way to the wooden deck. That tree that looks like it's grown into the roof sortof was. But it's been gone for years. Right past there is where the next picture was taken.

Here we're at the other end of the house, on the deck. The deck has stairs that go to the lower level. I didn't get any pictures of that.

That's a chin-up bar I used to use when I lived there. Two pieces of wood - I did it myself.

This is a different part of the deck - we're looking at the place where I was standing to get the last picture, so we're walking backwards. This is the part of the deck on the side of the house. The sliding glass door leads to the living room and dining room. THe fireplace is on the other side of the wall to the far left.

We are continuing to walk backwards - this is the picture windows in the living room, and you can see the fireplace in there just a little. On the right side, is the place where I took the last picture.

Now, turning around but standing in the same place, I took this panorama of the view. By this time the sun had come out but you can still see a lot of clouds. The software had trouble with the image because the trees were blowing in the wind and they couldn't line up the features, so some parts are blurry or whatever. You can see the deck we're standing on, and the railing, on both ends.

This is a panorama I did of the inside of the living room. Right outside there is where I took the last few pictures.

To the left is the kitchen skylite.

To the right is the other skylite. Someday I'll get a better camera and you'll be able to see stuff.
